I like to use a typography.css in my projects; a separate file which houses all the basic structural typographic styles I'll need. I’m not a big fan of the default text rendering in WebKit, in my opinion, it’s too heavy. There used to be a workaround where setting text-shadow would make the text thinner, but updating to Snow Leopard rendered that useless. Then someone found another hack (using -webkit-text-stroke) that seemed to work nicely, but it wasn’t usable on text-heavy pages, causing performance issues when scrolling.

Hint: This only works in OS X, Windows-user won’t see any difference! -webkit-font-smoothing: none; I feel sorry for the thousands of IE6-Users around the world seeing the web like this subpixel-antialiased; AMNZ This is the standard, seems like Safari 5 improved it, and there doesn’t seem to be a big difference to the right column. Look at the uppercase M to see that diagonal lines are displayed
