英ケント（Kent）州グレーブセンド（Gravesend）の訓練施設でテーザー銃の実技講習を受ける警察官（2007年12月5日、資料写真）。(c)AFP/CARL DE SOUZA 【10月18日 AFP】英国で、視覚障害者の男性が持つ白い杖（つえ）を「サムライの刀」と見間違えた警察官が、スタンガンの一種「テーザー銃」で男性を撃つ事件が起きた。イングランド北西部ランカシャー（Lancashire）州警察が17日、明らかにした。 警察発表によれば前週12日、同州チョーリー（Chorley）で、刀を持った男が町中をうろついているとの複数の通報があった。急行した警官の1人が、杖を手にした視覚障害者の男性を容疑者と思い込み、立ち止まるよう命令。しかし男性が歩き続けたため、テーザー銃を撃ち電撃ショックを与えたという。 間違いに気付いた警官は、あわてて被害者の男性を病院に運び込んだ。男性は一通りの検査
