先週、OSCON(Open Source Convention)に参加するため、米国オレゴン州ポートランドに行って来た。 http://www.oscon.com/oscon2013 このカンファレンスのお話ではなくて、英語によるちょっとした雑談の方法、Tシャツメソッドを紹介したい。 楽天は社内英語化を推進しているのでエンジニアに年に一度海外の技術系カンファレンスに行くことを推奨している。昨年はそのプログラムに乗っかって、Yammerという社内SNSツールのカンファレンスに参加した。今年はOSCONだ。 英語化のおかげで英語に対する苦手意識が徐々に下がって来ているけど、やっぱり海外カンファレンスで楽しむという余裕はなかなかない。よくあるアンチパターン。 日本人だけで固まってしまう。 英語が出来なくて不安だからどうしても日本人同士でかたまって、英語が得意そうな人に頼ってしまう。その人も別に英
