In English, "middleware" is a mass noun, like "furniture" and "water", and as a native speaker it makes my skin crawl every time I read "that's a great middleware" or the like. You can use it as a plural ("all the middleware") or an adjective ("middleware component") or as a category ("piece of middleware") but please, I can't be the only one who cringes at its use as a singular noun.
