京都市は１５日、所有する世界遺産・二条城の修理費用を捻出するため、展示会やレセプションなどの会場に、重要文化財である二の丸御殿台所などを貸し出すと発表した。今後、市に代わって会場の企画・運営を担当する複数の事業者を募集し、来春からの稼働を目指す。２０１４年度で１千万円の収入を見込む。 重文ではないが、和洋折衷庭園「清流園」や、茶室「和楽庵」など８カ所も対象。１日の利用料は、台所５０万円、清流園１００万円など。簡単な立食パーティーや音楽会などを開けるという。重文の使用に関し、文化庁は「利用についての市からの申請を受け、『建物の保存に影響しない』と判断できれば問題はない」としている。 二条城は１１年末から、１６０３年の築城以来最大規模の修理の途中。２０年かける予定で、修理費用の寄付を募っているが、目標額５０億円のうち約１億２千万円しか集まっていない。
