BIGLOBE、リコメンド機能を搭載した有料動画ポータルサイトを提供開始
NECのインターネットサービス「BIGLOBE」は4月11日、おすすめの動画コンテンツを紹介する「リコメンド機能」を搭載した有料動画ポータルサイト「BIGLOBE ViDEO STORE（ビッグローブビデオストア）」の提供を開始した。 BIGLOBE ViDEO STOREは、1月より提供している有料動画ポータルサイト「動画ストア」を強化したもの。動画コンテンツは5万タイトル以上を有する。 購入履歴による売れ筋情報に基づいた人気コンテンツを表示するリコメンド機能を新たに追加するとともに、視聴したい動画が決まっていない利用者向けに、おすすめ動画の紹介映像を自動的に配信するトップページを用意している。 また、電子マネーサービス「Edy」による決済に対応するほか、NECの2006年春モデルPCで提供を開始する新ネットサービス「ぱそ楽ねっと」とも連携する。
グーグル、検索エンジンOrionの開発者を雇用--新規検索プロジェクトを立ち上げ
Googleがオーストラリアの大学生と共同で、新規検索プロジェクトを立ち上げた。同プロジェクトは、ユーザーが、検索結果に表示された個々のリンクをクリックしなくても、検索結果からより多くの情報を得られるようにすることを目的としたものだ。 ニューサウスウェールズ大学の博士課程に在籍するOri Allon氏は、自身の検索エンジン「Orion」の開発を継続するために、先ごろよりGoogleに雇われていると、同大学の関係者は述べている。 「OriはGoogleの従業員となったが、これは依然として大学のプロジェクトだ」と同大学の関係者は述べた。同関係者によれば、Allon氏は現在、Googleのカリフォルニアオフィスで働いているという。 Orionは、キーワードを特定して、そのトピックと最も関連性の高いページを見つけ出し、ページの一部を検索結果に表示する。 Allon氏は以前に発表した声明で、自身の技
