Toru Maesaka Hi, welcome! I'm a computer programmer and a dad from San Francisco, CA. I run Chrono Technologies, a small tech company based right here in the city.
By Ilya Grigorik on April 22, 2008 Brian Aker and Alan Kasindorf gave a great talk on Memcached - every developer's favorite caching layer - at MySQL User Conference earlier last week. The slides are available online, and they're well worth a bookmark. Brian and Alan promised to continue updating the deck as they hone out their presentation at OSCON and other events. In fact, their next iteration
Tugela Cache is a cache system like memecached, but instead of storing data just in RAM, it stores data in the file system using a b-tree. You trade latency in order to have a very large cache. It's useful for sites that have caching requirements that exceed their available memory. It uses the same wire protocol as memcached so it can be dropped in without a hassle. From the website: As large Med
C言語のmemcachedクライアントライブラリは、 apr_memcache libmemcache の2種類が存在していたのですが、第3のライブラリがリリースされたようです。 libmemcached So why implement another C client library? (since that is the first question I expect some one to ask) 1) The libmemache library I was using for a while for the MySQL memcached storage engine leaks memory and after toying with it I decided I didn't want to fix it. 2) The APR one has the drawback
We wrote ketama to replace how our memcached clients mapped keys to servers. Previously, clients mapped keys->servers like this: server = serverlist[hash(key)%serverlist.length]; This meant that whenever we added or removed servers from the pool, everything hashed to different servers, which effectively wiped the entire cache. We add (and sometimes remove) servers from the memcached pool often

A while back I did Cache Performance Comparison for LAMP Stack. Looking at this data you can see memcached is about 5 times as slow as APC, and this is with tests done on localhost – with network difference is going to be larger, even with fastest network. Such latency can add up especially if you’re, being lazy “P” Developer, request objects from cache one by one rather than fetching all items yo
Intro[edit] As large MediaWiki deployments may gain performance using Memcached, at some level cost of RAM to store all objects becomes too high. In order to balance resource usage and make more use of our Apache server disks, Tugela, the distributed cached on-disk hash database, has arrived. Sources can be found at Mediawiki CVS repository as a module tugelacache. Design[edit] Tugela Cache is der
