今から130年以上前に米国で生まれたタイプライター。そのとき制定されたQWERTY（クワーティー）と呼ばれるキー配列は、現在のキーボードでもほとんど変わらない。一説には「早く打つと印字バーが絡むため、あえて入力効率を落とす配列が定められた」とも言われる。さらに、日本語をローマ字入力する場合、QWERTYキー配列の必然性はほとんどない。 およそ20年前に開発されたトロンキーボードは、新しいコンピュータ体系の実現を目指す、「トロン（TRON）」プロジェクトから生まれた。まず、数百人の手のサイズや指の動きの計測を元にキーの位置や間隔を決め、筋肉の緊張を軽減する前後10度、左右10度の傾斜を付けた。また、数百万文字の文章データを解析し、新規のキー割り当て（TRON配列）を規定。人差し指や中指に頻度の高い文字を割り当てたほか、頻繁に利用するシフトキーは弱い小指でなく親指で操作する。 写真の次世代型ト
