Firefox.next（3.5の次のバージョン）では、タブバーをサイド部分に置いてはどうか。Mozilla LabsのAza Raskin氏が、『Firefox.next: Tabs on the side?』の中でそう提案している。 Raskin氏が、Piroさんの『ツリー型タブ』をはじめとする拡張機能や、Oliver Reichenstein氏が書いた『Designing Firefox 3.2』（日本語版）に触発されて作ったモックアップが、これだ。まず、なぜタブをサイドに置くのかといえば、横長のスクリーンが多いからだ。従来のタブバーだと貴重な縦のスペースを使ってしまうが、特殊なサイドバーにすればその心配はない。とはいえ、横幅は取るので、ふだんは50ピクセルだけ表示させて隠しておき、マウスオーバーで全体が出現する形にすることも考えているという。タブはドメインごとにグループ化する計
