Google released its second web browser yesterday afternoon, adding additional headroom for web applications stretching the limits of what it’s possible to accomplish within a web browser. The Google Chrome team assembled domain experts in various fields over the past six years, both through direct hires and acquisitions, to create a new browser and its critical components from scratch. GMail and G

Today Google unveiled Chrome, an open-source web browser built for web apps. The release begs the question: What happened to its relationship with Mozilla, its Mountain View, Calif.-based neighbor and formerly close collaborator on Firefox, the open-source upstart trying (and to some extent succeeding) to take a piece out of Internet Explorer? I spend a fair amount of my time debunking misconceptions about Google. So when I found out that Google Chrome was going to be released, I put on my thinking cap about what objections people would throw out about Google Chrome. Here are the questions that I came up with, along with my personal answers. I want to stress that this is my personal blog, so even though I believe all of this is accurate
With its release of Chrome, Google is distributing a browser that will give the company direct access to the user, and more control over the data it gets. If Chrome catches on, the result would be a boon for Google’s cash cow — advertising. Chrome is a direct assault on Microsoft’s dominant market position in […] With its release of Chrome, Google is distributing a browser that will give the compa
Preventing paranoia: when does Google Chrome talk to Google.com? For better or worse, my blog is popular with the Google conspiracy-theorist demographic. 🙂 I knew that as soon as Google Chrome launched, some readers would ask tough questions about privacy and how/when Google Chrome communicates with google.com. So I decided to tackle this issue head-on. I talked to the Chrome team to find out if
