米Microsoftは11月11日(現地時間)、企業向けコミュニケーションツール「Microsoft Lync」の名称を「Skype for Business」に変更し、機能も統合すると発表した。 2015年上半期に予定しているLyncのアップデートで、オンプレミス版、Office 365版の両方のLyncがSkype for Businessになり、「Lync Server 2013」は「Skype for Business Server」になる。 Microsoftは2010年、それまで「Office Communications」として提供していたVoIP、IM、ビデオ会議サービスなどの、いわゆるUC(ユニファイドコミュニケーション)にLyncというブランドを付けた。2013年にはLyncとSkypeの相互接続が可能になっていた。
