MSN-Mainichi INTERACTIVE こころの世紀 大阪教育大学付属池田小学校で発生した小学生連続殺傷事件は、世間一般にも、精神医学会にも巨大な波紋を残した。 １９９７年、神戸市の郊外団地で発生したいわゆる「少年Ａ」の殺傷事件は、現代日本の家族の中で何が生じているかについての議論を導くかに見えたのだが、２００１年６月８日に宅間守という男が池田小学校に侵入し、刃物をふるって８人の学童（おもに小学２年生）を刺殺し、教師を含む１５人を傷つけると、家族についての議論はぴたりと止まり、「頭がおかしくて危ない人」をどう閉じこめるか、という議論へと移行した。 こちらの方は、ライシャワー大使刺傷事件を含めて何度も繰り返されては空転してきた話題なのだが、今回に限っては着々と論議が進み、ついに「心神喪失等の状態で重大な他害行為を行った者の医療及び観察等に関する法律」（略称、医療観察法）の成立（２０
