BitTorrentは25日、慶応大学において同社のコンテンツ配信技術BitTorrentを利用した授業映像の配信実験が開始されたと発表した。同技術を搭載したUSBメモリを学生に配布、利用するパソコンを問わず、セキュアで安定した映像配信が可能になるという。 BitTorrentを利用した授業映像の配信実験を実施するのは慶應義塾大学 湘南藤沢キャンパス(SFC)。クライアントプログラムを搭載した専用USBメモリ「MTorrent(マイクロトレント) for USB」を利用する。パソコンにプログラムをインストールすることなく利用でき、ユーザ間をP2P網でつなぐことで効率的な映像配信が可能になる。ダウンロードの中断・再開にも対応する。BitTorrentの配信技術により、意図しないファイルの流出を防ぐなど情報漏洩対策もとられているという。 同キャンパスでは従来もHTTPまたはFTPを利用した授業
