Googleによって一昨年に買収されたロボット開発のボストン・ダイナミクスが、新しい四足歩行ロボット「Spot」の動画を公開しています。 関連:Google、ストリートビューに四足歩行ロボットを導入? 開発企業Boston Dynamicsを買収 Spotは、大型犬くらいのサイズであるため、屋外のみならず屋内でも活動できます。重量は約75kg。これまで話題になったBigDogタイプやWildCatタイプよりも大幅に小型化されています。 頭部のセンサーによって、起伏の多い地形にも柔軟に対応。大人が横から蹴っても姿勢を維持して倒れないのはBigDogと同様ですが、動画を見る限り、バランスを取る動作が素早くなっています。 どんどん動きが細やかになっていく四足歩行ロボットの進歩は、果たしてどこまで続いていくのでしょうか。なお、Googleは軍事産業に直接携わることはないとしています。
