2019年後半の日本社会を大きく揺るがした出来事といえば、「表現の不自由展・その後」が一時中止に追い込まれた「あいちトリエンナーレ2019」だった。
あいちトリエンナーレの表現の不自由展の文化庁補助金問題やオーストリアの大使館公認取り消し。立憲民主党が憲法調査会でアーティストや彫刻家らを招いて話し合った。
「あいちトリエンナーレ2019」は10月14日、75日間の会期を終えた。慰安婦を表現する少女像や昭和天皇を含む肖像群が燃える映像作品が展示された「表現の不自由展・その後」は、「電凸」と呼ばれる激しい抗議電話や脅迫を受け、開幕3日後から約2カ月間、中止となった。 「自由に表現したいなら、税金を使わずにやれば良い」「税金で国をおとしめるような表現をすることはけしからん」――。不自由展に反対する人たちから、そうした意見が多く聞かれた。そもそも、公のお金と、文化や芸術の関係をどう考えるべきなのか。憲法学者で、文化芸術への公的助成に詳しい横大道聡・慶応義塾大学大学院教授に聞いた。
「不快に感じる人もいる、とも思った。ただ、表現としては認められるべきもので、僕自身は見て良かったと思う」
8日午後の観覧方法は、午前10時に公式サイトで公表される。動画撮影は禁止したうえで、8日は写真撮影を希望する人には、会場の職員が撮影し、後日撮影した写真を送付する。
