What We’re Listening to This Week

A friend once told me he thought that he’d be happier if he lived in Australia, because of Courtney Barnett. I didn’t need to ask why. Barnett is a thirty-year-old guitarist and singer who grew up in Tasmania, lives in Melbourne, and writes music that shines a little Aussie sun on the depressed, listless, and lost. Her lyrics are cheeky and smart, deadpan and dead-on; like any great songwriter, sh
