米司法省(DOJ)は4月11日(現地時間)、米Appleと出版大手5社をニューヨーク州南部地区連邦地裁に提訴したと発表した。Appleの電子書籍ストア「iBookstore」での書籍販売価格に関する取り決めが、独禁法に違反する疑い。 対象となる出版社は、Hachette、HarperCollins、Macmillan、Penguin、Simon & Schusterの5社。この内、Hachette、HarperCollins、Simon & Schusterの3社は和解案に合意した。 Appleとこれらの出版社を含む多数の企業が2009年夏から談合して電子書籍ストアでの健全な競争を排除しようとした結果、消費者向けの書籍の価格が上昇したとDOJは主張する。 DOJは具体的には、以下の点が独禁法に抵触するとしている。 iBookstoreで販売する書籍の価格を出版社が決める(エージェンシーモデ
