「プロフェッショナルの世界を見た」〜1 笹沼俊樹 いつものように、ニューヨークのホイットニー美術館で、「何か良い作品はないか……」と、一般展示をジックリと見ていた時、妙にひかれた作品と出会った。ジョエル・シャピロ〔JOEL Shapiro:1941〜〕が1978年に制作した“真っ赤”な変形六角形の立体の小品〔縦11.4×横14.6×厚さ8.3〕㎝（資料１）だった。 （資料１）JOEL SHAPIRO UNTITLED, 1978 CASEIN ON WOOD 11.4×14.6×8.3㎝ 帰りに、ポーラ・クーパー画廊〔当時のシャピロの契約画廊〕に寄り同時代の類似作品を見たが、気に入ったものはなかった。 翌週の土曜日、シャピロのスタジオ訪問。幸い彼はスタジオにいた。 「ホイットニーで、赤い1978年の立体の小品見ましたよ。あれ、いい作品ですね。その足でポーラ・クーパーに行き、同時代のもの4点
