Architecture Sigma.js is a modern JavaScript library for rendering and interacting with network graphs in the browser. It works in symbiosis with graphology, a multipurpose graph manipulation library.
graph = { nodes : [ { "name" : "にこ", "color

This project is an attempt to build re-usable charts and chart components for d3.js without taking away the power that d3.js gives you. This is a very young collection of components, with the goal of keeping these components very customizable, staying away from your standard cookie cutter solutions.
Eric Fischer maps language communities on Twitter using Chrome’s open-source language detector. Each color, chosen to make differences more visibly obvious, represents a language. English is represented in dark gray, which is used just about everywhere, so it doesn’t obscure everything else. The emergence of borders without actually drawing them in is interesting. There’s a little bit of blending,
Remember the Facebook connections map from a while back? It showed digital friendships around the world by connecting locations with arcs. Visual arts graduate student Ian Wojtowicz mashed that with NASA’s well-known map showing Earth at night, and the above is what you get. The black areas represent Facebook coverage, and the yellow areas are where there are people not using Facebook. It’s like t
During major events, people use Twitter to share news and thoughts with friends, family and followers around the world. Messages originating in one place are quickly spread across the globe through Retweets, @replies and Direct Messages. We see this behavior during everything from sporting events like the World Cup to widely-televised news events like the royal wedding, and also in the face of maj
The city is filled with an invisible landscape of networks that is becoming an interwoven part of daily life. WiFi networks and increasingly sophisticated mobile phones are starting to influence how urban environments are experienced and understood. We want to explore and reveal what the immaterial terrain of WiFi looks like and how it relates to the city. Immaterials: light painting WiFi film by
