カウラ事件のドキュメンタリー。 規模だけ見れば名作映画「大脱走」なんてもんじゃない。 しかし、動機というか目的がなぁ...近代の基準や価値観からしたらとっても残念。 偽名多数。後から捕虜で来た人が、自分の公式身分を教えてくれるしね(白木の箱にラバウルの土が遺骨として入れられて家族の元に帰ったとか)。 捕虜生活は快適だったらしい。 オーストラリアは食い物に困らない感じだしね。 日本人には魚！という要望も、最終的にはニュージーランドから冷凍した魚を調達してくれるぐらい手厚い扱いを受けていたらしい。 ゆえに戦死した同胞に申し訳なく感じるのかも知れない。 収容所の跡地はある程度保存されていて、案内の看板がある。 記されているのは「ここに収容所が有った」というより「脱走しやがった」という説明の模様。 式典の撮影時に墓を跨いで撮影しているカメラクルーが居た。多分日本人。どこの阿呆だろうか? .
