ライブドアが提供するRSSリーダー「livedoor Reader」の英語版「Fastladder」が、2月7日よりオープンソースソフトウェアとして無償提供された。ユーザーは自分のPCやサーバにインストールして利用できる。ダウンロードはこちらから。 オープンソース版Fastladderの基本機能は既存のlivedoor ReaderおよびFastladderとほぼ変わらず、ウェブブラウザ上で利用する。自分のPCやサーバにインストールするため、社内ブログなどのイントラネットのRSSフィードや、Gmailなどの認証つきRSSフィードなどを安心して購読できる点が特徴だ。 インストールの手順は、サイトからソフトウェアをダウンロードし、実行ファイルをクリックするだけ。スタートメニューから「Start Crawler」、「Fastladder」の順にクリックすれば起動できる。 livedoor Rea

ライブドアは2月7日、Web型RSSリーダー英語版「Fastladder」のソースコードを公開した。サービスのオープンソース（OSS）化は同社初。自由にコードを変更してカスタマイズ・再配布したり、自前のサーバにインストールして企業内で使ったりできる。まずは英語のまま公開したが、日本語など多言語に対応していく予定だ。 OSS化の一番の理由は「とにかく目立ちたい」。昨年秋、米国でFastladderをプレゼンして回った際、Fastladderには“売り”が足りないと痛感。「OSS化は売りになる」と考えた。 「想定外の競合」と戦うために Fastladderは、Web型RSSリーダー「livedoor Reader」の英語版で、昨年7月に公開した。1000単位のRSSを高速に処理できる能力が特徴だ。 livedoor Readerが半年で10万ユーザー集めた（2月現在、17万ユーザー）経験から、
