小鹿田焼をはじめて目にするときなんともいえない佇まいに、こころを惹きつけられます。 素朴で温かみがあり、でもどこか力強く奥が深く、伝統を守り続けてきたからこそ出せる味わいです。 小鹿田焼の開窯 小鹿田焼は大分県日田市から車で30分ほどの山中の小さな集落で焼かれています。 小鹿田焼の開窯は、福岡県朝倉郡小石原村にある小石原焼の技法が伝わり、江戸中期の宝永2年（1705年）に当時、日田郡大鶴村にいた黒木十兵衛が小石原焼の陶工 柳瀬三右衛門らを招いて開窯したのが小鹿田焼のはじまりといわれています。 現在は10軒の窯元があり、開窯当時以来、一子相伝で小鹿田焼の技術や伝統を守りつづけています。 自給自足の土と釉薬 小鹿田焼の原土（陶土）は、すべて集落周辺の山からの自給です。皿山は集落全体の地質が厚い陶土層で形成されているため、表土を少し掘り下げれば陶土を掘り出せます。採土作業は年２～３回共同で行われ

気がついたらあっと言う間にすっかり今年も年の瀬。 日本ではそろそろ年内手仕舞い＆正月突入モードになっているかと思うが、カンボジアは（というか弊社は）おそらくそうでもない。 カンボジアは暦年の正月、中華系の旧暦正月（来年は２月初旬）、カンボジアの正月（毎年４月中旬）と、正月が年に3回も訪れるとてもおめでたい国ではあるけれど、暦年の正月は１月１日が祝日になるくらいで、その他２つの正月に比べてそれほど盛大に祝う（というか休む）期間となっていない。 むしろその手前のクリスマスに本気モードになるのが例年の通例である（有り難いことに祝日化はしていないけど）。 ハロウィーン、クリスマス、正月、バレンタイン、など諸々、各々の歴史的起源やら宗教的背景やらには頓着せず無節操に全て飲み込んで祝ってしまうあたり（なぜか感謝祭はその対象に入っていないあたりも）、日本とカンボジアに何か根底で通じているものがあるのでは
