「ISO準拠！」なんかすごそう、なんだかわからないけど！ と言ったときのISO（アイエスオー）は、多くはISO9001規格を指している。これは国際標準化機構（ISO）が決めている規格である。ISO9001という文章番号の規格に品質マネジメントについて書かれている。規格を守り認定団体に監査されてはじめて品質管理を守っていると名乗れる。内部統制改善とブランディングのためにアピールする会社は多い。 よく見る「ISO」はISO9001（品質マネジメント）やISO14001（環境マネジメント）。その他にもISO規格は大量にあり、発行済のStandard（標準）文章は2万を超えて日々増えている。例えば、ISO 1は「製品の大きさを測る温度の基準は20℃」だったりする。 2万もあるので、多分野で大量にある。 ISOの宇宙の規格ISOはいくつかの技術委員会（TC）とさらにその下に分科委員会（SC）がある。
