今月１９日、静岡県西伊豆町で家族連れなど７人が川岸に設置された電気柵で感電し、男性２人が死亡した事故で、電気柵には変圧器が取り付けられ、電圧を高くするよう設定されていたことが、警察への取材で分かりました。警察は変圧器を設置したいきさつなどについて調べています。 この電気柵は家庭用の１００ボルトのコンセントから電気をひいていましたが、その途中に電圧を変える変圧器が取り付けられていたことが、警察への取材で新たに分かりました。 警察などによりますと、変圧器は１００ボルトの電圧が４００ボルト以上になるよう設定されていたということです。電気柵には設置が義務づけられている、漏電の際に電気を遮断する装置などが取り付けられていませんでした。 警察は変圧器を設置したいきさつなどについて、所有者の男性から話を聞くなどして調べを進めています。

氾濫の兆しが出てきたスマートデバイス 先日、Googleとリーバイスがスマートフォンの入力装置としての「スマートジーンズ」を共同開発するという報道 があった。研究段階という前提条件つきだが、「布地の一部を指でたたいてスマホの音楽を再生したり、上下になぞって音量を操作したり」したというデモの記事を読み、私は若干の違和感を覚えた。 スマートフォンの普及以降、スマートウォッチ、スマートホームなど、「スマート」と名のつくものが日々の報道をにぎわせている。しかし一方で、「スマート」が意味するもの、そのコンセプトが製品によって大きく異なるようにも感じられる。 IoTなどに代表される通り、「スマートナントカ」の流れは今までとは異なる価値を提供し、我々の行動様式に変化をもたらす重要な変革になりうる。よって、「スマート」をバズワード化させるのではなく、その意味するところを議論したいと考える。 「スマートさ」
