JR東日本は11日、東京電力福島第1原発事故で廃炉作業の拠点となったサッカー施設Jヴィレッジ(福島県楢葉町、広野町)の最寄り駅となる常磐線の新駅の名称を「Jヴィレッジ駅」にすると発表した。開業は来年4月の予定で、今年夏以降、主要施設が再開したJヴィレッジへの集客を後押しする。 JR東は選定理由として「『Jヴィレッジ』は東日本大震災からの復興のシンボルであり駅名としてもわかりやすく、さらなる地域の活性化が期待できる」としている。 新駅は木戸-広野間に設置されJヴィレッジの施設まで約170メートル、徒歩2分。宿泊センターハウスまで約800メートル、徒歩10分。イベント開催時のみ停車する臨時駅となる。常磐線は原発事故の影響で現在も浪江-富岡間が不通となっており、JR東は再来年3月末までの全線開通を目指している。 Jヴィレッジは、平成9年に国内初のサッカーのナショナルトレーニングセンターとして開設
