電気自動車(EV)導入を加速するホンダは、電動化に伴いさらに重要性が増す半導体の確保に向け、中長期的な取り組みを始めている。 ホンダの三部敏宏社長は12日のブルームバーグとのインタビューで、自動車業界で必要なのは汎用半導体だけでなく、画像処理を高速で行う高機能半導体や電力を制御するパワー半導体など、EVやコネクテッドなどの技術領域ごとに異なることから、「それぞれどう確保していくかという戦略を持たなくてはいけない」と指摘した。 短期的には「必要になるであろう半導体を少しホンダ側でもストックして持つなど、できることはいろいろやっている」という。さらに、さまざまな機能を集積したシステム・オン・チップ(SoC)と呼ばれる半導体を半導体メーカーと共同開発するなど、これまでの「ただ買ってくるという関係」を超えた協力をすることで中長期にわたって安定調達ができる取り組みを進めていると明らかにした。
