This thread is about upgrading MacBook Airs & Macbook Pros (2013-2015) with new high speed and/or high capacity NVMe SSDs. This thread was one of the first to talk about MacBook Pro NVMe SSD upgrades on Macrumors, and was started by user "maxthackray", which we can thank and give tribute for having started this thread. This post has now been converted by MacRumors administrators to the present wik

Managed to get this working a bit more reliably/easily with these instructions I put together. Confirmed AirDrop 2.0 and Handoff working on 2011 MBP 17", with AirDrop 2.0 working on Mac mini, though not displaying an option to enable Handoff in System Preferences. How to enable Handoff/AirDrop 2.0 Requires 0xED 1. Navigate to /System/Library/Extensions. 2. Backup & copy IO80211Family.kext to Des
This is better than osxdaily's method (which should only be used for DP1 anyway, not DP4 or the GM): To make a bootable USB of the GM, use this method: Your 8 GB USB drive should be called Untitled and formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). The installer should be called Install OS X Mavericks.app and should be in your Applications folder. Run this in terminal and wait about 20 minutes: sudo /A

*V.2 now supports both 32/64Bit* Working on iOS 6 (Download source link no longer works and has been removed from this post, download the attached .zip file below as an alternative!) Hello , The program “AirPrint Installer” enabled windows users to install the AirPrint service. This allowed iOS devices to print to shared printers on the network, via AirPrint, that don't natively support it. Howeve
Original Posts Deleted. Reason: To add space for MLPostFactor Explanation. Right, I take the advantage of this empty space to explain how MLPostFactor works. I will try my best to explain it here. Before i get very technical, lets do a basic overview of what "Mountain Lion" is. What is Mountain Lion. What makes it so different comparing to Lion? Alright, Mountain Lion is the 8th version of OS10. W
I know we already have monthly desktop threads, but Geektool is becoming more and more popular, and figured it would probably be better and easier for everyone to have a collection of their Geektool layout in one place. Geektool Download Here All using the 'Shell' selection: Date: date +%d Month: date +%B Day: date +%A Time: date +"%I:%M" Alternatives: Without the '0' infront of the hours 1-9, use
Thanks very much for that. I had found one of them before and tried it, but I gave it another go and got it working perfectly. I think I might have been leaving keys out somewhere along the way or something... Anyway, here's the (probably messy) code I used in the end, for posterity's sake (or for anyone else who wants to do this...) - (BOOL)sendPhotoToTumblr:(NSString *)photo withCaption:(NSStrin
I have AirPrint work with shared printers in Windows 7 (64bits). Here is the step by step instructions. 1) Install iTunes 10.1 2) Download AirPrint.zip (airprint.exe, libairprint.dll, XpdfPrint.dll) 3) Unzip it. 4) Make a folder, "C:\Program Files (x86)\AirPrint\" 5) Copy the files to "C:\Program Files (x86)\AirPrint\" 6) Run "cmd.exe" as administrator 7) Run the following commands (There should b
Finally. If any of the specifics are wrong, please reply, I'm a beginner, and love to learn. I thought I'd post this thread in case anyone else ever needs this info, and was starting at the beginning like me with launchd and bash scripting. I wanted to startup hamachi on leopard automatically at login or boot. For those that don't know, leopard doesn't have a functioning GUI yet for hamachi. One m
I am having a hell of a time deciding what color phone and what color bumper I want, so I made these..... it didn't help me decide. But I figured maybe others would find them useful.
Guys, I tried to mount an NFS on to my Mac Tiger OS X (10.4.9) by using "sudo mount -t nfs /path_to_NFS ./directory_in_my_home" and the resultant terminal response is "mount_nfs: /Users/vishwa: Operation not permitted" I have already tested this on a linux desktop and it works fine without any problems. Also tried changing target directories on my Mac, but ended up with the same result. Any ideas
Am I the only one with this re-occurring problem? (for the sake of others searching this I'll say it several different ways) My iTunes sound cuts out mid song but continues to play. iTunes goes silent but still plays. Sound stops but itunes keeps playing. It doesn't matter whether I'm using air tunes or going straight off my lap top. In order to get the sound back I have to pause the song and play
(Just like to thank everyone who posted/shared this link with friends, I am glad this guide has reached several others ) Seen a lot of threads of people wondering how to restore an iPhone so I decided to make a DIY guide Also pretty helpful if you want to de-brand your iPhone Background My previous iPhone was stolen at the gym, low on funds I decided to buy the cheapest iPhone I could find that wo
I'm having the same problem with my white macbook, the mouse shows up in the bluetooth control panel. I press connect and it just says connecting and never actually pairs with the mouse (wireless mighty mouse). Anyone got it to work? Ironically it worked before it was installed by either the boot camp drivers or windows update (cant remember which) but the scroll wheel and other buttons didn't wor
So i put my application configuration information under the Settings application. Everything is working fine, but for my app to work properly I need the user to first configure some information under the settings. Is there a way I can automatically bring up the settings app for a first time user, and then automatically bring him back to my opening window after he is done? Is there a generally acce
This is experimental, and known to be unstable, use at your own risk. I am sure many of you heard that Snow Leopard was supposed to have native read/write for NTFS partitions. Apple supported NTFS R/W in older SL builds but I guess decided to not to go with it for some reason, however support is still present. For this, you need to modify your /etc/fstab file to mount NTFS partitions for read and
To set any of these, go to terminal and enter in the code for whichever preference you want to set. Remember, to reset the setting to its default value, just change the "1" at the end to a "0" (or vice versa). Disable rounded corners

For those of us who need these packages, here are some tips for installing both under 10.6: For fink, a great set of instructions exists here: http://sage.ucsc.edu/~wgscott/xtal/wiki/index.php/64-bit_Fink_for_10.5 Open up the Terminal Follow all the instructions on the page http://sage.ucsc.edu/~wgscott/xtal/wiki/index.php/64-bit_Fink_for_10.5 I chose the default options, for those of you 64-bit p

I can confirm the four finger gesture is possible on pre-October 2008 laptops, and I currently have four finger Exposé and Application Switching working on my January 2008 MacBook Air. Here's what I did: My girlfriend recently bought a new unibody MacBook. Just for kicks, and being insanely jealous of her four finger Exposé ability I installed the system it came with on my 1st gen MacBook Air. (Th
So I've seen the new 4 finger swiping on the new MBP's at the store. Will we older MBP owners (early 2008 Penryn) get this in a software update or not? The store manager said no, then maybe, then not really sure. Should just be software...

It would appear that someone on the production line was having a bit of fun - has anyone else found this ? These are the photo's:
