To kick off the FITC Tokyo 2015 conference, a superteam of artists working around the world (and sometimes around the clock) created a sublimely glitchy homage to the culture of Japan. The way this team met and worked together is just as interesting as their finished project. Their globally distributed workflow is a testament not only to the power of collaboration but also to the way technology ha
Prologue’s treatment for Robin Hood is a study in patient analogue work. Ridley Scott called on the studio create Legends to open the film as well as End and Main Titles. Ridley’s vision for the film required Prologue to treat all the type in a handmade fashion, this meant taking the type out of the computer for most of the process and filming and treating them as handmade elements. What stuck out

To see the full collection of work Prologue created for Iron Man 2, head over to Prologue’s site. For those of you who’ve seen Iron Man 2 (has anyone not seen it?), you know that Robert Downey Jr. shares the screen with Mickey Rourke and Don Cheadle for some of the film’s most intense sequences. But the real co-stars—the real palladium in Iron Man’s chest—are the ubiquitous motion design elements
I almost laughed at how epic and ambitious this piece is. But I really loved it. Its choc-a-block with nice moments but some of the transitions from one moment to the next are pretty crude compared to a lot of other work I’ve seen from them. when the first white drop hits the ground the camera move slows down very abruptly. When the lady in the red dress is walking the elements look like 2.5d cuto

I love the tilt shift technique. The magnifying glass part could have been better, just a really poor looking puff of smoke. Comments are closed. It’s happened to you at least once — a color explosion on your screen created by an ill-fated download or a codec mismatch. A compression algorithm slip-up can introduce surprising colors and patterns but retain strange motion memories of the original video. A little over a week ago, Ray Tintori premiered his music video for Chairlift’s “Evident Utensil”, which wrangles the technique, “data moshin

Watch “Building” | Watch “Contents” | Watch “Motor” When I first watched these three commercials by Australian director Liz Murphy and TAXI for RAC Insurance, I thought, “Man, this is awesome 3D!” Then, when Liz told us that it was all real props, shot on full scale built sets, animated frame by frame in one continuous shot, I was convinced that this was a winner. All three spots are mind-boggling
The talented guys and gals over at Barcelona based, Dvein created these wonderful titles for the recent TOCA ME design conference. The TOCA ME crew contacted us to make the opening titles for this year’s event. The theme was “Beyond Surface”, and they wanted to go beyond each of the artists invited to the conference, to know their processes and thoughts. Opening title’s are very type based and we
