Apple Computerとソフトバンクが携帯電話端末事業で提携するという報道が5月13日、一部報道機関でなされた。この報道に対し、アップルコンピュータは「日本法人で把握している情報はない」として、コメントを控えた。 報道によれば、ソフトバンクはiTunes Music Storeでダウンロードした楽曲を再生できる携帯電話端末をAppleと共同開発するという。同様の機能を持った端末は、すでにMotorolaが「ROKR」という端末を発売している。 ソフトバンクは4月にボーダフォンを買収して、携帯電話端末についても強化する方針を表明しており、動向が注目されていた。 ■追記(5月15日午前9時20分) この件に関し、ソフトバンク広報は、「一切ノーコメント」と固く口を閉ざした。話し合いをしているかという点についても、「一切お話できない」としている。
米Apple Computer,Inc.とソフトバンクが,「iPod」の機能を備えた携帯電話機の開発で提携したとの内容を,日本経済新聞が2006年5月13日の朝刊で報じた。記事によれば,Apple社の音楽配信サービス「iTunes Music Store(iTMS)」を利用できる携帯電話機を両者で開発するとし,早ければ2006年中にも発売されるという。 この報道に関して米Apple Computer Inc.の広報部は,これまでのところ明確な回答を示していない。なお同社日本法人広報部は,「提携に関する内容は,まったく聞いていない」と話している。 「憶測記事」とソフトバンク ソフトバンクも2006年5月15日,この報道に対する公式コメントを発表した。「報道機関による憶測記事であり,報道された内容はソフトバンクとして機関決定したものではない」としている。
