【ワシントン＝犬塚陽介】米紙ニューヨーク・タイムズ（電子版）は２１日、米政府やアラブ諸国の情報当局者の話として、中央情報局（ＣＩＡ）の担当者が過去数週間にわたってトルコ南部に潜入し、トルコなどが実施する複数のシリア反体制派組織への武器供与について、どの組織に提供するのが適切かを決定する秘密作戦を展開していると報じた。 同紙によると、トルコやサウジアラビア、カタールなどが、トルコとシリアの国境地帯から反体制派に自動小銃や手榴（しゅりゅう）弾、対戦車ミサイルなどを供与している。 ＣＩＡ担当者は、武器が国際テロ組織アルカーイダに関係する組織に渡ることがないよう確かめ、米政府として反体制派の実情を見極める狙いも担っているとしている。 同紙は米政府高官や元ＣＩＡ職員の話として、米政府がシリア反体制派に対し、衛星写真などを基にしたシリア政府軍の動向に関する情報提供も検討していると報じている。
